Gath Intends to Run for Reelection – Sign Nominating Petition

Council Member Brian Gath, who represents Ward 2 in Blue Ash, is announcing his intention to run for reelection for the same seat in this fall’s general election.

“I’ve enjoyed serving my community in this role and I feel like I’ve made a positive difference for my constituents and all of Blue Ash,” Gath said.

He pointed to the difficult decisions that often come with development proposals as one area he feels he has had the most impact. “Council has a lot of 7-0 votes because most of the things that come before us are well thought out in advance and proposed by the City Administration. The hardest votes come when an issue has two sides or residents are concerned.”

One example Gath gave was the decision to approve zoning to allow a Wawa and a car wash to be built on Pfieffer Road where a Red Roof Inn currently operates.

“I deliberately reached out to the neighbors around the project to make sure they understood what was happening and through the process spent many hours speaking with them on the phone and visiting with them in their homes. I’m proud of how I communicated and worked to get the developer to best address the many of the concerns of the residents.”

Though it was a difficult decision at the time, the discovery of a body on the property when it was being surveyed after the zoning change gave him even more confidence in his support. “For many of us, our first reaction to a proposed change is resistance. In this case, it’s important to remember that the current use is not without its own challenges.”

Residents of Blue Ash Ward 2 who would like to support Council-member Gath in his reelection are asked to consider signing his nomination petition. Email Brian to arrange to sign.
