Being a Good Public Servant Means Answering the Tough Questions

Every leader has to answer tough questions. Every good office holder needs to answer tough questions asked by the voters and city officials. As a candidate to represent Ward 2 on the Blue Ash City Council, I’ve gotten a chance to answer some tough questions.

Recently the League of Women Voters and the Cincinnati Enquirer sent all the candidates for local offices a series of questions. Some were easy (what’s your name). Some were very hard (in 250 characters or less, what qualifies you for the office you seek). I encourage you to read the answers of both candidates before you make your choice. Of course, on each of the sites, you will find answers about all the offices you will find on your ballot November 2.

Did you see the latest on Kenwood and Cooper?

Blue Ash City Council met in August for a work session to hear more information about Circle Development’s proposal for the property on the northeast corner of Kenwood and Cooper Roads. TLDR: After a market analysis, the developer took out plans for a hotel and replaced it with additional space for entertainment, retail, and small offices. The City’s planning consultant testified that the proposal was obviously designed to meet the City’s Downtown Strategy Plan that Council approved last year.

Blue Ash Council Moves Towards Legalizing “Golf Carts” on Roads, other business

In the May 13 meeting of the Blue Ash City Council, members moved to direct city staff to draft legislation that, if passed, would allow “low-speed” and “under-speed” vehicles on city roads with speed limits of 35 MPH or lower. Additionally, they set a hearing on a request to allow a mixed use development on the site of the former P&G east campus, moved forward the HAM Plainfield Roundabout, and other routine business. The clearest news came with so many qualifiers and maybes that the final outcome is little more than a guess.
